The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) is the peak Australian Rules Football body in Western Australia that plays a key leadership, governance and funding role to football throughout the State whilst also driving the overall development and growth of the game. The WAFC is a not for profit organisation that plays an important role in funding the on-going development of football in all communities.
The WAFC's vision is to connect and enhance WA communities through our great game. This will be underpinned by a focus on delivering against the core objectives of Engagement, Talent and Sustainability. WA Football is in an exciting period and we are now in the market for two dedicated and motivated Colts Coaches to coach and oversee the coaching program for the WAFL Colts at South Fremantle Football Club and Peel Thunder Football Club.
- Work in collaboration with WAFL club staff and act as an ambassador of the WAFL club and the WAFC
- Preparation, communication & implementation of a training plan which is appropriate for this stage of the player pathway
- Ensure appropriate planning has taken place with the Athlete Development Manager around the periodisation of the training program and managing player workloads
- Evidence the program caters for individual differences and varying player workloads as well as encouraging the physical development of players through the strength and conditioning coaches and programs
- Ensure the team has an appropriate review process with use of written and verbal feedback
- Clear alignment and compliance with WAFC Minimum Standards and AFL Benchmarking documents.
- Prepare, communicate & implement team strategies and rules
- Work in a collaborative manner with all Talent Managers and academy staff in the formulation and delivery of the program
- Liaise regularly with all WAFL Coaches & Staff on matters of selection & talent identification
- Present coach education seminars and support community coach education programs when required
- Build strong, sustainable and respectful relationships with all stakeholders
- Review and update the Player Individual Development Plans document annually based on coded vision, statistics and athletic testing data
To be considered for these positions you will need to demonstrate the following essential criteria:
- Minimum Level 2 coach accreditation
- Demonstrated knowledge, involvement and understanding of talent development programs
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
- Mentor/teaching skills that develop trust and respect
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and communicate sequential training and game plans
- Demonstrated ability to develop high levels of team unity
- Demonstrated ability to inspire individuals and teams in the pursuit of individual and team achievement

The roles will be offered with a part time/fixed term contract until 7 October 2019.
